Transformer design and manufacture is a specialist activity performed for the group by our wholly owned subsidiary the Transformer & Electrical Company Ltd (TEC®). Founded in 1941, TEC® became part of the Claude Lyons Group in 1985 and is now co-located with the parent company at Waltham Cross, Herts.

Many of Claude Lyons products incorporate TEC transformers guaranteeing the quality and reliability of our products.

TEC® offers a professional range of high grade products including single and three phase, dry, oil immersed and resin cast transformers. chokes, auto starting transformers, harmonic reduction transformers, energy saving transformers, and rectifier unit

With in-house metal fabrication facilities, a fully qualified and experienced development team backed by the latest techniques in computer-aided design, TEC® prides itself on providing the most efficient and flexible transformer and wound product service available.

Individual customer specifications can be met on a non-standard basis, including operation temperature to Class H, multiple windings and tapping's, high voltage or heavy current designs and oil immersion designs. TEC will incorporate free issue equipment if required.

To ensure that TEC® products are produced to the highest of standards stage by stage inspection and assessment is carried out during manufacture culminating in final and full routine tests in accordance with BS171 (IEC 76) and BS EN 60076 parts 1 & 2 1997. In  addition, temperature rise tests can be undertaken.
